Degritter MKII RCM - The core of Degritter is the 120kHz ultrasonic cleaning system that is powered by a custom 300 watt ultrasonic amplifier specifically designed for cleaning records. This amplifier powers four ultrasonic transducers (2 per side) that will clean both sides of the record simultaneously. The Degritter has been carefully designed in house to make sure that your records are cleaned thoroughly and without any damage to their surface.
Ultrasonic cleaning works by creating a large number of microscopic bubbles in the cleaning bath, a phenomena called cavitation. The bubbles are a vacuum created by high frequency pressure waves moving through the water. Every ultrasonic cycle bubbles are formed and collapsed, releasing energy as heat and minuscule strong water jets. These effects combined thoroughly clean all surfaces down to a microscopic level. A 120kHz frequency provides finer and more evenly distributed cleaning action than lower frequency systems. In fact, this technology at even higher frequencies is used to clean parts in the semiconductor industry, where surfaces need to be pure on a molecular level.
Degritter record cleaning machines come with an active filtering solution. Active means that it removes small particles and dirt from the water during the ultrasonic cleaning process. Dirt washed off the record is filtered out of the ultrasonic cleaning bath and it won’t end up back on the record. The drying cycle uses blower fans, this can be the loudest element of the cleaning cycles. In order to give users the control over drying fan speed, power, and noise 20 different fan power settings that can be selected. (Setting the fan power too high will dry the record more quickly but it will increase the amount of noise, on low settings the fans will be almost inaudible but the drying will take longer).
Available in an Anodized Grey or Black finish.
Available Accessories
7" or 10" Record Adapters
100ml Cleaning Fluid
Replacement Water Filters (25)
Extra Fluid Tank - The additional fluid tank can be useful if you wish to give the records a rinse cycle with just distilled water (the cleaning fluid applies an anti-static agent to the surface of the record). The other use for the extra tank is if you are cleaning a large number of records in a row, the water heats up from the ultrasonic cleaning and needs to cool after every 5 or 6 records. The second tank will let you alternate them, letting one cool as you use the other.
